Dave Stockton's Strongest 36" WheelClick for a large photo of the wheel. Note: bearings supplied with wheel are sealed, not shielded as in the photo.

ü Featured in Universe II, and tested / raced / toured worldwide both on- and off-road, including the Alps of Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Italy, and France; Tasmania and mainland Australia; New Zealand; Laos; Canada; Norway; Japan; and all over the United States

ü Overwhelmingly successful completions of the 2006 Laos Unicycle Tour (3 wheels), the 2005 Alps Unicycle Tour (3 wheels), and the 2003 Norwegian Unicycle Tour (1 wheel)

ü First place in the 10k Road Race at the 2004 USA Nationals (Mike Tierney)

ü First unicycle completion of the rugged 48 mile Iron Horse Bicycle Classic (Mike Tierney, 2005)

ü Dave Stockton Wheel Build - super high, uniform spoke tension for wheel strength and stiffness, and extremely true for best braking and frame clearance.  Typical trueness is better than 0.5mm lateral (each side) and 1.0mm radial (this is the rim joint and not removable)

ü Widened and strengthened Suzue square taper hub with etched serial number

ü Hollow large-diameter (22mm OD) stainless steel axle adds strength while keeping weight under control

ü Bearing-axle interface is machined for better bearing tracking and seating

ü Spoke head brass washers conform to spoke head for a more stable spoke seat

ü Custom-cut stainless steel 14g spokes for strength, lightness, and corrosion-free lifetime

ü Wide-flange 12g nickle-coated brass nipples eliminate rim pull-through and stiffen the nipple-rim interface

ü Wheelsmith SpokePrep© for a more stable wheel and no nipple-spoke seize-up

ü Personally selected Airfoil double-walled aluminum 36" rim, with brake area machined for optimal braking finesse (extra charge)

ü Tough industrial film as rim tape is thin and strong, makes tire installation easier, and will not crack or deteriorate with age

ü SKF bearings for lowered rolling resistance, installed with liquid sleeve retainer for security

ü Coker tube and tire are installed and seated properly, well before shipping, to ensure proper tire memory

ü 29er tube installed as no-cost option

ü Metal Schrader valve stem extender with Rema valve stem removal cap makes tube changes and inflation easier

ü Compatible with stock Coker frame (with minor tweaking), and custom frames by Rick Hunter

ü Shipped in mil-spec box, designed specifically for this wheel (small extra charge for box)

ü Shipped with 2 additional spoke/washer/nipple sets in case of spoke crash damage

ü Comes with owner's manual (this version not complete, but pretty close)

Check out our 3-person static stress test, performed on the original prototype wheel. The wheel was unchanged after this test.  Production versions are even stronger!

Truing warranty: as long as the hub, spokes, and rim are undamaged, if you ship the wheel to me at your expense, I will true the wheel and return it to you at my expense (shipping container, if required, not included in the warranty).  In normal operation, you should not ever have to true the wheel, nor should you ever break a spoke.

Powdercoating and Sidewall Machining: The most recent batch of Airfoil rims has been powdercoated because of a manufacturing issue largely beyond the control of LiveWire and the rim's manufacturer, unicycle.com.  In order that customers don't have to wait a year or more for these rims to be used up, LiveWire and Wallis Design have developed an approach to machine the entire braking track in a controlled, professional way.  This operation will temporarily increase the price of wheels that are intended to be used with a brake.  If you intend to use a brake, you need to specify the Machined Sidewall version, because braking performance is not warranteed on the non-machined version.

Price: $683.87 + shipping

Machined Sidewall Surcharge: $60.00

Please note also that the machining process improves the braking performance of the sidewall over the anodized version as well, so that we may continue to offer this option when the powdercoated rims are gone.  Due to several considerations, we are not currently able to offer the machined rims as individual parts.

UDC Hub Version

The UDC hub is available for use in these wheels with the provision that the wheel is for road riding only, and not for use in trials, off-road, or other extreme situations.  We're not saying the UDC can't handle those situations, we're just saying that we haven't been able to test it yet in more extreme situations. So far the feedback has been good for road riding and small drops, including successful completion of the 2005 Alps Tour.  This wheel uses the standard (non-SKF) bearings that come with the hub.  If you intend to use a brake, you need to specify the Machined Sidewall version, because braking performance is not warranteed on the non-machined version.

Price: $481.84 + shipping

Machined Sidewall Surcharge: $60.00
